Welcome to a new year at HKSS! This year is the 12th year since the establishment of HKSS. As we have done for many years, HKSS will continue to bring many different events to everyone, such as interest-based workshops, singing contests, various sports events and Culture Night.

As we have done so for many years, HKSS will host its annual Fall Orientation at Ackerman Grand Ballroom on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 (Week 3). Doors will officially open at 7:00pm. Come meet lots and lots of interesting new people just like you, learn about our club, play exciting group games and enjoy entertaining performances together and make it an evening to remember.

Better yet, join our membership and enjoy EXCLUSIVE MEMBERS ONLY discounts from over a dozen different vendors and restaurants. For those who want to join our team and develop leadership skills, please contact our staff to inquire about the internship program.

Team game: 12 teams; 3 on 3 games
Solo games: Free Throws; 3 Pointers

Team game:
5 participants on one team
Maximum 2 substitutes

Fee:
Team game: $3 per member; $7 per non-members
Solo games: $3 for either free throws or 3 pointers; $5 for both

Competition System:
1st round Round-Robin system and Single-knockouts for 2nd and final rounds

Champion: A golden championship trophy or medals
1st runner up: A silver championship trophy or medals
2nd runner up: A bronze championship trophy or medals.

Be prepared to be stunned by the amazing singers of UCLA! Hong Kong Student Society (HKSS) is going to host the annual Internal Singing Contest at the Moore 100 on Friday 2/4/2011 7-10 PM.

Admission is FREE!! So come support your friends, watch a dance performance by the HKSS officers and a duet by the 2009 champion Kelsey Guo and the 2010 champion B-Lam Ho.

Are you ready to belt out some tunes?! Yep, it's that time of the year again! Our annual internal singing contest auditions are here!!! Please read below for some important information

Fee: Free for members; $5 for non-members (no refunds)
What: Audition for Internal Singing Contest and win up to $100 cash prizes!!

** Audition participants must provide their own background music in mp3 format**

Audition Format:

1. Only audition participants and staff members can watch.

2. Audition participants must provide their own BGM in mp3 format. If music does not work, then sing in acapella.

3. Time slot available for participants to sign up prior to audition.

4. No deadline set for signing up on time slots. Therefore, walk in auditions are allowed, but if time slot is full then no walk ins.

Mahjong, with its long history originated in China, is a game of skill, intelligence, calculation and luck. It is one of the most well-known and popular games in the world. Today, the popularity and the types of Mahjong vary from country to country. In Hong Kong, most of us play Cantonese Mahjong. This will be a great opportunity not only to exchange your Mahjong knowledge, but to also win a big cash prize home!! If you want to learn about this magnificent piece of art and/or just to have some fun with your friends, please drop by!! We will also have poker, jenga, UNO, and other board games too. 

It'll definitely be a fun night! Come and join us!! =)

$10 participation fee in tournament

The champion will win a $60 worth prize!
1st Runner Up gets a $40 worth prize and 2nd Runner Up gets a $20 worth prize!
Raffle ticket prize will also be available for everybody!


*Rules will be explained by judges before tournament begins.
**Members can also get their membership cards at the event.
***There are only 32 seats available for the tournament, so please RSVP at the HKSS booth on Bruinwalk with the participation fee.
